Thank you all the people (my host family -Päivi and her husband- and the Finnish teachers ) for these days.

Finnish experiences by Zsofia Kiss, Hungary

Finnish experiences
This is the first time in my life that I am in Finland and I am very excited.
I arrived in Mikkeli with two teachers and three students on 7th May 2016.
I was very curious about my future host family.
When we arrived in Mikkeli late on Sunday,my host family(Miia Roos and her daughter) were waiting for us.
They welcomed me and my fellow student very kindly and we were taken to their flat which is not very far from the city centre.
We were shown the flat and our cosy room, then we had a nice dinner. Then we met the family cute dog. Finnish food is very interesting and strange for me.
Next day our Erasmus+ programme started.
After it the school was presented and then we went to see the city. In the evening we went with the family to a small house not far from Mikkeli where we tried the typical Finnish sauna. After the sauna we jumped into the lake where the water temperature was about 15 degrees Centigrade. I think it was a breathtaking experience for me!
The next morning we did the project work again, then we went to church which was very nice.
The next day we went to a lumber yard which was very interesting after it we visited a bakery factory where we got some presents (traditional Finnish bread)
In the afternoon we went hiking in Repovesi, the national park where my teacher, Niki neni and me had a 10 km hiking tour. We were the “heroes of the day”!
On Thursday morning we made the project work.
In the afternoon we went to Hirvensalmi. First we went by bus then we went by a speedboat. It was very exciting.
When we arrived in Hirvensalmi, we were playing typical traditional Finnish group games.
The last day was in Mikkeli at school to finish our project work and we had a farewell dinner with our host family.
I want to thank my host family (Miia Roos and her daughter) for their hospitality and their kind welcome.

I will never forget the beautiful days in Mikkeli!

Being during meeting in Finland

Hello its Jere!

I had a great opportunity to be a host to Jacopo Benedetti from Italy. This week has been amazing for me. At the first evening were in Joannas house where we barbequed and spent time together. Sunday morning we slept long because we all wanted to sleep long. Then we met the others again and we walked around the city. Sunday was like a lazy day we didn't do much in that day.
Monday we woke up early because it was a school day. In school we get knowed each others and walk around our school buildings then we went to do the project. After school day we had a free time so we spent time to city and shopping. Every morning we had to came to school and we were doing the project work. After school students had some program what is going to happen next. This has been great to be a part of this project and i will remember all moments what we did in this project. Chicken team you was the best!

Lets be in touch! ♥

I had an opportunity to be a host for Linda Mazzieri and later also for Elena Camiletti from Italy. They came here 7.5.2016 by train about 19.00 o'clock.

In the first night all the Italian students came to my house and we barbequed and had fun. We ate a lot of the traditional Finnish barbeque food. After that we showed them places in Mikkeli for example Naisvuori hill and harbor.

Everyday we all spent time together. We toured them around Mikkeli. We also showed them Puumala which is about 70 kilometeres away from Mikkeli and Lietvesi which is on the way to the Puumala.
Italian students loved Finnish lakes and they took a lot of pictures of that.

We visited to Repovesi national park and ma and Jere walked long way with Italian students and teachers, Germany students, Hungary students and we were their guides. Thursday we were in Hirvensalmi, Tuulis fathers farm. We had a lot of fun, we was in sauna and swimming on the lake.

I really liked to be a host and I really liked the girls also. At first only Linda was my guest and we had fun. Later in the week Netta get sick and then Elena came to my house and stayed rest of the week.

I'm so glad that I had an opportunity to get know these peoples and be part of this project. We got many new friends. I'm gonna miss you our chickens ♥

My experiences in Finland by Laura Szilvia Gubola, Hungary

My experiences in Finland

We arrived in Finland on Saturday.
We were traveling by plane. It was the first time I´ve flown. Before we went to Mikkeli, we spent a day and one night in Helsinki. That was grate. The capital city was beautiful. On the next day we arrived at Mikkeli. My host family was waiting for me in front of the hotel, where my teachers were staying all week.
My host family live in a big house in the countryside. It was so strange for me, because I can’t see such houses too much. They were very kind, and nice with me. We spent five days in Mikkeli. The Finnish team organised great programs for every day.
On the first day, we arrived at the school at 8:15. We did the project in the morning, and after that we went for lunch at 12:00.  The Finnish foods were strange for me. My stomach didn´t like it too much. But I think most of them were delicious.
In the afternoon we went sightseeing. The city was cute and small. All over Finland there are a lot of woods and lakes. In this city it is the same. Lakes and woods are everywhere. The next day, we spent in the school, and worked on the project. That was boring for me.
On Wednesday we went to visit the Misawa Sawmill factory and the Bakery factory. It was exciting. We got some presents (typical traditional Finnish bread). We looked very funny in the bakery uniform.
In the afternoon we went hiking in the mountains of the National Park in Repovesi. It was a tiring but beautiful experience for all the group. The heroes of the day were Niki neni (our teacher) and Zsofi, one of my fellow student because they have done a 10 km route.
On Thursday we had a project morning again at school and in the afternoon we went to Hirvensalmi, which is a wonderful island. We went there by boat. On the island we played traditional Finnish group games and after them we had an also traditional dinner. That was the best experience in the week.
Friday was the last day of the project work and we worked very hard. We managed to finish the project. In the afternoon we had a farewell sightseeing in Mikkeli and a farewell dinner with the project partners.
Thank you for this amazing week. I had a great time here. Especially great thank to my host family who were my second family in Finland.

The best experiences in Mikkeli by Zsofia Kuti, Hungary

The best experiences in Mikkeli

On Sunday night we arrived in Mikkeli (09.05.2016.)
My landlady was Miia Roos and her daughter. It was a great experience how much love we got from them when I arrived.
The first day we went around the town, I really liked the area.
One of the best experiences was when they took me to a weekend house which has a lake. In this place I could try the sauna and swim in the lake. They've done everything possible to have fun. I really liked when I woke up every morning and the breakfast was waiting on the table.
Another favorite experience was when we went to Hirvensalmi where we were welcomed very warmly.  So far I have hated fish but here I got to love fish. The Finnish traditional games were very good and exciting while I was waiting to be ready for dinner. It was a great experience when we went out to Hirvensalmi by a Viking boat.

I would like to thank for so many wonderful experiences I gained during this week.

My Experience in Finland by Nicolas Helm

During my time in Mikkeli, I had the opportunity to meet new people and to learn about a different culture. The project work wasn't that much. My job was to fix some audio problems and to fix some other video issues.

The cultural program was very good I got to know some things about Finland and I also had the opportunity to see some really nice places like the national park Repovesi. Mikkeli itself is a very nice and quite town with a lake near by which is really nice to walk by. There are many nice and interesting places to see there.

My host family tried to make us feel like I'm at home. They were very nice people which told me a few things about Mikkeli. The food they provided was very good at first i was a bit scared what I will get to eat. But in the end this concern turned out to be wrong.

This one week trip to Mikkeli was short but still nice so from my opinion this intercultural project was a full success.

Italian students in Mikkeli

We are four Italian students and we took part in a project called  “Erasmus +    WoCu 2.0“.
Our experience in Finland was amazing. We went to Mikkeli. There every morning we met in a class where everyone had a computer to work.  In the school we watched videos about the different way each country behaves at work with customers, boss and other employees. The videos were in the original language, so we put English subtitles in each films to make the other people understand.
In the afternoon we did different things every day, such as a guided tour through the town, an industrial visit to a bakery which gave us some bread to take home and to the Misawa company that is a sawmill. On Thursday we went to an island where we made sauna and we swam in the cold lake (Hot and freeze, what a shock!). It was the most amazing thing in all the week!
We were lucky because the weather was sunny and we could do activities without any problems. We ate typical Finnish meals, like grilled salmon and some little fishes, that were fished the same day, so they were very fresh.
In the evening, we went out with the other students and we discovered the places where Finnish guys like going.

I´m Giulia and my host was Tuuli, a very nice girl who made me feel like I was at home. I also loved her mother, who was very kind with me. They always explained to me the things about the town and the Finnish culture.
I´m Elena and my host was Netta. But unfortunately she got sick and then I had to move in Joanna´s house. However, it was a fantastic experience!
I´m Jacopo and my host was Jere that I met last year in Italy, with him I passed all the time and I was very happy about it. From him I learned a lot of Finnish mores and I hope to continue our friendship also in the future because this experience will be a very good memory.
I´m Linda and my host was Joanna. I immediately felt at ease with her, but also with the rest of the family and the dog. It was an amazing week because I learned about the Finnish mores and I hope to return there in winter.

My experience in Finland by Simon Schwalm

Hello,

my name is Simon Schwalm from Germany and I participated in the Work and Culture Project. I also had the opportunity to visit Mikkeli for one week. During this week we made subtitles for the YouTube videos that we made before and redesigned them. It was fairly easy to do that. But most of the time we all were traveling through Finland, hiking through the forests and exploring Mikkeli.

I lived together with  someone from my country and someone from Hungary in a house owned by a teacher who participated in the Work and Culture Project. She and her husband are lovely people and I very much enjoyed my stay there. They also had a dog with which I played from time to time.

The whole work and culture group also visited an island, hiked through the forest, made barbecue and met at a restaurant. We also had some time to do what we want to do in Mikkeli. I for one visited a museum and some stables in Mikkeli with a bicycle that was provided by my host familie.

I enjoyed my stay and would like to come back to Finland someday.

My experience in Finland by Nelly Rachimow

Our journey to Finland started on the 8.05.16. I was really excited to meet students from other countries and have a good time in Finland.

My host sister, Emma, is an amazing girl, she is very nice and was always looking out for me. We did a lot of cool stuff in our free time together. We went hiking with a few other friends, went shopping, and so on. I`m happy that I got such a nice girl as my host sister.

Also the things we did with all the other students was great. We had a little tour around Mikkeli, went hiking and grilled sausages. The finish nature is very beautiful, but also scary. For example I saw two snakes in the woods. On another day we went on an island in a boat, which was very interesting. We also played traditional finish games which were really funny and ate traditional finish food there. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was also very nice. After we ate, we could go to sauna and swimming, if we wanted. Later we went back with the boat and home with the school cars.

In Finland the people are very nice and I felt welcome. I also noticed a few differences, like there they have warm meals often, different than in Germany. In Germany we eat breakfast, warm lunch and for dinner just sandwiches or snacks. In Finland they eat breakfast, warm lunch, warm dinner and a snack before they go to sleep. But the food was always good.

In the end I can only say, that this trip was an amazing experience and I´m really glad that I could be part of it. I met a lot of nice people and made new friends.

My experience in Finland Mara Horst

The project meeting started on 8th of May 2016. It was funded by Erasmus+. Erasmus+ is the EU's programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe.

After the 1st week in Finland, I’m really happy that I could be part of it. I met many friendly people and I love my host family. They were so kind to me and I felt like a part of the family for the week. My host sister is Siiri. She is so friendly and I like her really much.

Our little video project worked out really good. We did some good work.

We went to some cool places here in Finland, e.g. the National Park Repovesi. I also took some beautiful pictures of Finland. The nature in Finland is really pretty. We saw snakes and got so scared.

In Finland we ate 4 meals a day. Breakfast and 3 cooked meals. The first around 1pm, the second around 4pm and the last around 8-9pm. It was really weird because in Germany we eat 1 cooked meal around noon and then whenever we want.

Many thanks to my teachers/school because without them I wouldn’t have been able to meet my new friends. And also to Siiri and her friends, the week was really nice and I enjoyed being in Finland.

Finland: 12 Points! - German teachers give full score for meeting in Mikkeli

"Finland, Finland, Finland - the country I quite want to be ...". With this tune from The Monty Python Flying Circus on our minds we arrived in Helsinki on a perfect spring day with blue sky and 20°C. And as perfect as it started it continued throughout the whole week. Our hosts were taking care of us perfectly, the working atmosphere was concentrated but relaxed and we have learned a lot about the Finnish culture and landscape. This meeting was the perfect end of an amazing project and we will continue to sing "Finland, Finland, Finland - the country I quite want to be ...". Thank you for this wonderful week!

Portguese teachers' Erasmus+ experience in Alsfeld

Erasmus+ - Working Culture 2.0

The third project meeting took place in Asfeld, from 14 to 20 February 2016 with the participation of three teachers, Apresentacao Gamelas, Conceicao Limas and Olga Albuquerque, and four students, Ana Oliveira, Patricia Gama, Renata Silva and Joao Geraldes.

During this week we took part in different activities and performed numerous tasks, which contributed to develop several skills, such as, speaking, social, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team with students/ teachers from different countries and present the results of the different tasks in front of an audience. On Monday morning, teachers and students (T+S) went on a guided tour through the Max-Eyth-Schule with Gerhard and Stephan, the host teachers from Germany. Then, we started working on the project by presenting the clips and discussing the amendments to be made. In the afternoon, there was a guided tour through town. On Tuesday morning, T+S worked from 8.05 a.m. until 12.30 on the project, analysing the commentary videos and discussing the cultural differences in situations such as ”Meeting the employer”, ”Meeting your colleagues”, ”Asking for directions at the reception”, etc. In the afternoon, T+S defined the content of the PowerPoints to be made, and then started working on them. At 19.00 we all met at ”Ramspeck’s Wine Tavern”, which used to be a storage local for wine when Alsfeld was still a trading route. On Wednesday morning, T+S met at 8.00 at the school and took an hour drive on a bus to visit a salt mine in Merkers. Afterwards, we had a packed lunch on the bus and drove to Melsungen to visit one of the biggest family business companies in the world, B-Braun, which produces healthcare equipment . This company, whose headquarters look almost like an industrial city, is represented worldwide in more than 50 countries,  and employs approximately 47,000 people. On Thursday morning, at 8.05 teachers got together to discuss the layout and content of slides, to define the additional material that could be posted on a website/ Blog and the several and best ways to disseminate this project in each country. At the same time, students went Lesson Shadowing with their host students, and at 9.50 they had an intercultural meeting with some refugees from different countries. At 11.35, the students and the refugees presented the teachers the outcome of their meeting. In the afternoon, while teachers worked on the project creating the website/ blog and defining the different contents it should contain, students had the afternoon off with their host students. There was also a meeting with the coordinators from the five countries to discuss the project management. At 18.00, T+S met at club ”Plan B” for a party. Besides eating pizza and having some drinks, we also had the pleasure of listening to an English teacher singing along with a P.E. teacher on the guitar. Afterwards, there was a DJ and we all danced a lot. On Friday morning, T+S met at school at 8.05 to set objectives for the final meeting in Mikkeli, and to evaluate the Project meeting in Asfeld. In the afternoon, teachers worked on their reports and students had the afternnon off with their host students. All the activities and field trips contributed to enrich our knowledge and broaden our horizons to a better understanding of the working etiquette throughout the European Union.

We had a lovely time, the city was beautiful and our hosts very welcoming and friendly. We are very thankful for the opportunity to meet all of you, students and teachers from different countries and we’re looking forward to work with you again in future projects.

João Geraldes's Erasmus+ experience in Alsfeld

My experience in Erasmus + by Joao Geraldes

My experience in the Erasmus+ project so far has been great. Coming to Germany and staying in someone else´s home has been an amazing experience. My host here is a boy named Ayhan and we have had no problem communicating since we both speak English and we can understand each other perfectly; besides, we have many things in common.

With him I experienced and learned about the German culture, his city, Alsfeld, and their habits and customs.

Meeting the other Erasmus+ students has also been a great experience; there are students here from Finland, Hungary, and Italy and of course Germany. Talking with everyone and working together with all the students is incredible because I truly had no idea how different people could be.

The city we stayed in, Alsfeld, is a beautiful small city surrounded by plains and fields and other small villages. The weather here is much colder than what we are used to in Portugal but it’s easier to handle because there’s no humidity like in Portugal and we’re not by the sea.

The food is quite different but the biggest difference is the time they have their meals, the day here starts earlier so we see a lot of students with energy drinks like cola and other beverages with gas and lots of sugar. The fact that they don’t drink plain water is very strange; they only drink water with gas. Here in Germany they don’t eat dinner or lunch like we do, they eat dinner around 5 and at 8 or 9 they might have a snack. The food is a bit different but I really liked it as well.

The activities here were a lot of fun, we worked with all the other students on the Eramus+ Project, and we had a tour around the city and the school, we saw a company called B-Brown, one of the biggest in the healthcare system, and their factory was almost the size of an actual city. We had a tour to a famous salt mine with 4500km, more than the double size of Berlin or the trip from Portugal to Germany.

I have enjoyed every moment of this project so far and I will recommend it to every student.

Ana Filipa's Erasmus+ experience in Alsfeld

My experience in Erasmus+

When I was first contacted to participate in Erasmus+ I felt a little bit apprehensive, but after deciding to do it, there was no turning back – I definitely had to go. Otherwise, I would regret for the rest of my life having missed the opportunity to take part in  a unique experience.

In Alsfeld, we stayed with a host family, which can be an awkward experience because you are not familiar with their habits, food, language … but I was lucky – the family I stayed with was very welcoming, nice, and friendly, always trying to make me feel at home. Now I see Denise, my host student, as a sister, because she was always there to help and support me whenever I needed it, and believe me, there are lots of obstacles to overcome when you are staying at a foreign country.

One of the very first things I noticed was the way they greet each other; actually, I had already been told that people here in Germany don’t kiss each other on the cheeks but with a handshake, but when the host family arrived at the hotel to pick me up, they all gave me a hug and a kiss. Back at home, however, her brother and sister gave me a handshake. When I gave them the gifts I had brought from Portugal, Denise and her parents gave me a big hug.

In my opinion, food here in Germany has a much stronger flavour than in Portugal; too much spices, sauces and salad dressings. They don’t eat fish or soup or at least I’ve never seen them having those at any meal, but it was ok because I can do well without those things. Meals time is also different: breakfast and dinner are more or less the same but dinner is at 17h or 18h and they don’t have a hot meal, just some sandwiches.

Germany is quite a cold country, at least in winter, and we are not used to it, but it’s bearable because there’s no wind like in our city, Aveiro. German people seem not to mind the cold, which can be seen by the clothes they wear.  I actually had to sleep with a hot water bottle and ask for an extra blanket.

Asfeld looks like a fairy tale city, and I noticed it more in the girls’ bedrooms and on the landscapes. Another interesting thing I noticed was that young people are very independent from their parents; they don’t mind other people’s opinions either, they just want to feel good about themselves; it’s so different from Portugal, where everyone worries about what other people may think or say about them.

I loved the field trips we took, especially the visit to the salt mine, but at the end I just wanted to breathe fresh air. I was already feeling a headache for being 800 metres below; however, I loved the music and light show in the crystals room and the fact that they put so much effort and care on people’s safety, namely at the time of the explosions. The other trip to B-Braun Company, almost an industrial city in the Health Care field, was also interesting. We could notice how much developed and evolved factories are in relation to the Portuguese ones. It’s easy to understand why workers feel so motivated to work here.

In conclusion, I would like to say that I will never forget my “German sister”, Denise, because, right from the beginning, she knew I was not so good at English, but she never let that become an obstacle between us. Thank you all so much for this unforgettable experience!

Renata's Erasmus+ experience in Alsfeld

My Experience in Erasmus+

For the first time I had the opportunity to participate in a project like Erasmus+ and of travelling by plane. It was the best opportunity of my life.

Before coming to Aslfed, in Germany, I was very nervous because it was also the first time I left Portugal and my family to live with an unknown family.

The first day was very awkward because I met my host family and I noticed that their customs are very different from mine. I’m still learning to adapt to them. The language was also an obstacle. I only speak a little bit of English but we manage to understand each other.

The most embarrassing moment was when I went to greet the whole family with two kisses and they gave me their hand to shake. My first reaction was laughing and theirs too.

The weather here is very cold and it snows very often. The food in Germany is quite different from ours in Portugal. The meal which was more different for me was the dinner because they eat at 6pm and most of the times they eat sandwiches with tea or juice.

The thing I liked the most were the houses, the snow and this small village.

All the students and teachers had to do many activities in this week concerning this project. I liked when, in a very cold and snowing afternoon, we went for a guided tour through the town, and when we went to see the salt mine in Merkers. It was very good too when we went to eat a kind of typical Aslfeld pizza at Ramspeck’s wine tavern.  I also liked the Refugees Meeting and the party in the club “Plan B” very much.

I would also like to talk a little about the host family. I met Julija’s family, the mother, the father, the sister and grandmother. On the first day, Julija and I went ice skating; it was an amazing experience for me.

I suppose everyone should have an opportunity like this one to learn and live different things and grow up as a person with an experience like this.

My Erasmus experience

I was invited by my Math’s teacher, Jorge Guerra, to take part in this project. Therefore, I was in the “team” when our foreign partners were in Aveiro. I took part in some of the joint activities such as the trip to OLI the company visited by the students.  However, my real Erasmus experience was here in Alsfeld.

I had never taken a flight before, so making the check-in and entering the waiting area was exciting. In the beginning of the journey, I was very nervous because I didn’t know what to expect about staying with an unknown German family.

Nurja, my host student, met me at the hotel entrance; she was so nice that I immediately felt at ease. I didn’t know how to greet her and her family. In Portugal we generally kiss each other on the cheek, here, we first shake hands.

She took me home and we immediately had lunch. She explained how meals work in Germany, she told me about her daily routine and about her family. During my first afternoon in Alsfeld she showed me her house, she spoke about the town and about her friends and we compared differences in the two countries. The most surprising fact was the weather; it was so cold and I’d never seen snow before!

During my stay here what I’ve enjoyed most was the time spent with my new friend after classes/activities. We did lots of things, we went shopping, we went to a “Bäkerei” to have coffee and we wandered around the town. I met many of her friends, they were all friendly and they were always asking me if I was alright.

My favourite activities were the visit to Merkers, the salt mine and the meeting with the refugees. Listening to their life stories was a lesson, the media don’t let us know how much courage they need to escape their countries and travel without any certainties. Going to the club “Plan B” was also exciting; I enjoyed being with every foreign student, and getting to know them better.

The only obstacle I found a little bit difficult to overcome was the language. I am not very fluent at English, so sometimes it was difficult to communicate. I overcame that by using Spanish and French, and lots of times I used gestures.

Germany is quite different from my country, but I had a great time. I wouldn’t mind doing my apprenticeship here. I would like to come back here to meet everyone again.

Portugal, Aveiro experiencies through finnish eyes

What a beautiful city! Surrounded with the river and the sea is also rather near. We was one week with 2 collagues and 4 students in October 2016 Aveiro. We had a flight from Helsinki to Frankfurt and then to Porto where we stayed one night. Porto is rather big city and very lively. Next morning we travelled by train to Aveiro and it took about one hour. Students lived with their host families and we teachers lived about 9 kilometers from the city, near the sea.

I have never eat so much seafood in one week, but the food was delicious. And I mean really delicious because it was so fresh. In the evenings we went to walk in the beach to look those big waves of Atlantic sea. I thought to swim but when I saw those waves, I'd rather stay away....

In daytime we had very intensive work with the WoCu2.0 intercultural project and our Portugal coordinator Jorge arranged some companyvisits for teachers and students. Thanks a lot Jorge for that week and hope to see you in Finland in May 2016.

Best regards Päivi Tyrväinen

Experiences from Italy, Loreto spring 2015

Greetings from Finland,

We was with my collague Tuija Seppänen and me, Päivi Tyrväinen and 4 students one week in the WoCu2.0 project trip inItaly, Loreto. We had a flight from Helsinki to Munchen and then to Ancona. Our partner school teacher pick up us from airport to Loreto where the host families took care of our students for a one week.

It was rare and fine experience to live one week in the old monastery. Loreto is situated in the middle of the Italy, 25 kilometers from Ancona. And Ancona is the nearest airport near Loreto. After worked daily with our WoCu2.0 project, our coordinator Anna Gentile arranged us fantastic historical places to visit. Loreto's famous church is the Basilica Di Loreto and it is known as  the holy house of virgin Mary.  The statue of the madonna of Loreto is the black one. A lot of pilgrims visit in the holy house every year.

We visited with the students also in Assisi and Perugia. Assisi is known of Saint Francis, who was the patron saint of Italy. Saint Francis is buried in the crypta of Basilica. Perugia is known of its chocolate factory. I have never seen so much chocolate in one time. The most famous product is called "Perugina kiss" filled with the hazelnut. Molto buenissimo!

Nearest beach is situated 4 kilometers from Loreto. The beach is very long with the fine sands and there are lot of restaurants. I have never eat so much Italian food as that week. Spaghetti, lasagne, pizza, cappucino, tortellini, tiramisu and many more.

Big hug and thanks to Anna of that fantastic week. See you dear.

My Experience in Alsfeld  14 – 20 February

I would like to introduce my speech saying that I´m so lucky to have Mara like my host girl, she is so nice and lovely, she and her family let me feel like if I was at home.

She lives far from Alsfeld , we got up at 6 am, then we took a bus, we waited at the rail station for about 30 minutes (sometimes we went to the bakery and we took a hot chocolate or something to eat) and we took a train and  finally we walked for about 10 minutes to arrive at school, but it wasn`t a problem for me.

I had a lot of fun with her and her friends, they were  kind with me.

I liked so much the trip to the salt mine, at the start it was a little bit scary because we were many meters underground , but the concert with the lights was amazing; the trip to the B-Braun was a little bit boring because the old woman said a lot of words that I didn`t know, but in general it was a good day. But I think the best moment was at the Thursday party at Plan B, I really had a lot of fun, the teacher that sang was amazing, my friends and I sang with her and we danced so much!

I tasted some typical German food, but I also had dinner in an Italian restaurant

I have to say thanks to my teachers and to the German teachers for this amazing experience!

MY EXPERIENCE IN GERMANY

My experience in Germany was really exciting.

We did a lot of interesting works on the morning at school. We discussed about some videos that we made in our countries, and we compared the works (video resolution, cultural message..etc)

We also visited the salt mine ad it was really beautiful; There was a wonderful show with colour lights into there, and I will remember it forever. After we went to B-Braun factory and I didn´t like it really so much but it was so interesting.

I slept in a girl´s house (her name is Larissa), and I really like her family. They´re so friendly and so helpful. I appreciated a lot that, the dad doesn´t speak English but he always tried to talk with me with Google translator, and I think that it´s the most beautiful thing that I saw in Germany.

Me and Larissa are friends now and we´ll organize a trip together to meet again. The days in Larissa´s house were really beautiful, and I could meet again the other guys that live in Germany  that I had met during the meeting in Italy, and now we´re a fantastic group.

I hope that everyone can do this experience because it´s unusual but at the same time it´s really educational.

MY EXPERIENCE IN GERMANY -Ilaria

I’m an Italian student and I took part in a project called  “Erasmus +    WoCu 2.0“.

My experience in Germany was amazing. My classmates and I went to Alsfeld. Here every morning we met in the Aula of the school, and we were told about work in general to find out and compare the different way of each country to behave at work with the customers, boss and other employees.

Every student was hosted by girls or boys. My host girl was very nice, friendly and her family too. They were kind and polite with me and I felt like at home. Every day they gave me a packed lunch and her father drove us until the bus station where we took the bus. The journey was long because she lives on a farm one hour away and we arrived at school at about 8 o’clock. That wasn’t a problem for me ‘cause I liked to stay with her.

In the afternoon we did different things such as a guided tour through town, an industrial visit to the B. Braun company and a tour to a salt mine. In particular I really liked this one, because I think the tour was the most interesting and fascinating of all. Here we saw a very nice show made with music and awesome lights. The guided tour through the town was nice too, but unfortunately we were outside and it was very cold.

On Thursday we had a party at Plan B.  Here we ate pizza and drank some beer or cocktails. We danced a lot and we had fun! I was very happy because I met my old German friends that I knew last year in Italy with the same project.

In the end on Saturday my classmates and I will go to Frankfurt to discover the fascinating attractions of the city like “Galeria” that is a very huge shopping center where I hope to buy a lot of souvenirs including an magnet for my mother.

My experience in Germany was very exciting. Alsfeld is a very nice town that looks like Hogsmade, the city situated near Hogwarts, from Harry Potter’s books.
My host girl was very kind and she made me feel like if I was at my home.
When we were at school we had to do some activities and one day the German students made the breakfast for us.
The experience was good except for the visit to the B-Braun company, because they used some words that we had never heard before.
The visit at the salt mine was amazing especially for the light and music show. I felt very happy when I saw that.
The nights were quite beautiful because my host girl and her friends were very sweet and funny.
The party on Thursday was amazing and I enjoyed myself a lot.
I can just say that this experience was really good to improve my English and to meet new amazing people. I’d also like to say thanks to my teachers and to my host girl Nicola.
It was very amazing.

Experimenting

Our school is part of an ensemble of 6 schools : Agrupamento de Escolas de Esgueira in the outskirts of Aveiro. The secondary school which takes part in the project was built in 1982 welcoming 400 students and 30 teachers, but it has grown a lot since then! In the eighties we began the European experience with Comenius programs and we had the opportunity to know schools everywhere.
